A Steady Diet

The winter of 2014/2015 should be remembered as a good one.

Our neck of the wood, like the rest of California, has been the recipient of a steady flow of rideable surf.

The winter started off with some nice rain that got everything all green.

And while January has been dry, the swells keep coming.

There’s been waves in all sorts of unusual places.

Along with the high surf, we’ve had some high tides.

Combined with a lack of sand, the waves carved deeper into our coastline.

We were getting rides were we never have before.

” Wow! Great turn kid!”

While there seems to be more strangers in the line up than ever,
we still run into some of the locals.
This friendly guy approached me one sunny afternoon and so I obliged in a bit of stick throwing.

I didn’t realize at first that his parents were Mr. and Mrs. Arroyan.

Both Valerie and Brandon Arroyan were out enjoying some fun little waves this day.

Another day, right at dusk, I came across some good old Goleta boys
enjoying their backyard.

Kenny Jorgensen still holds his spot at Campus.

Right alongside Surf Country’s Doug Yartz.

These thugs make an occasional appearance….

James Fortman can be found catching his fair share of nuggets most every swell.

It’s always fun to watch a youngster getting his first taste of stoke……

But it’s never fun to watch someone’s stoke get snuffed out by an inconsiderate snake.

And so it goes in the Goodland. Here’s to continued surf…..
and rain we hope.

This move seems to be gaining popularity….
