Offshore Chill.
Late afternoon,early February, 2008.
Rumours of surf are confirmed with a quick visit to Campus Point.
As we continued around the point, it was clear that the swell
had a lot of north in it, making Depressions the place to be.
A strong offshore breeze was
holding up the lip, making for some
hollow barrels. But these were not
Santa Ana winds, they were cold.
Finger numbing, February cold.
Check out how clear the islands are…
Kinda hollow, eh?
Evan Gambetta finding shelter from the wind.
Here’s a nice sequence of a Goleta boy we call Graveytrain,
having a little fun and getting a little air.
That’s what days like this are good for. Having fun and trying out new stuff.
This guy below managed to tuck himself nicely into the shade of this clean
little barrel.
Check out this
high velocity ride
sequence.
And as the sun dropped, the colors popped.
As we made our way back to the parking lot, we just
had to say, there’s no place like home.
And crank up the heater…
