Sloppy Seconds
March 29, 2010.
Classic, beautiful, Goleta spring day.
Warm enough to hit the beach, surf or not.
We’ve been keeping an eye on our favorite Spring spot.
The sand seems to be slowly filling in, but lately that lovely March breeze keeps mixing
things up a little much. So we shuffle over to old reliable: College Point.
And this point does a pretty good job blocking that funky Cheese wind.
And, if you paddle around the point a little further, that wind hits at an
angle that’s damn near offshore. Sometimes.
Meanwhile, back in the lineup, the boys jockey for position.
While the smaller waves were jumbled and funky, the set waves were big
enough to push through the slop and cleaned up purty nice.
Anybody know what that boat is?
She’s a real beauty.
Probably something to do with all the sand they’re dumping at Goleta Beach.
There were just a few guys in front of the rock, and they
were getting plenty of rides.
But this guy gets the prize for finding his own peak, away from the pack, and getting
barrelled several times.
Always gotta throw in a couple of wipe out shots, just for kicks.
When there are long lulls, you get some shots like this.
So there you go. The surf keeps coming.
Get ready for the wind swells.
