Sunrise Service

Getting up and out before the sun can be a challenge sometimes,
but when it’s done with a clear head and a positive outlook, the rewards can be great.

Some surfers do it with one goal in mind: get on it before the crowds.
But there are lots of other reasons for the effort.

The sights and sounds are unlike any you can experience the rest of the day.
The birds are extra active, the air feels crispy clean and the smells are intoxicating.

And of course there’s nothing like going through the rest of your day knowing,
you already got your surf in. It makes everything else go a little smoother.

This particular morning found just a few happy souls in the water.

One of whom was a highly motivated Trevor Scoggins….

He was determined to get his waves in before the 9 to 5 shift.

And he did.

The winter of 2013-2014 will be remembered as a good one.
Lots of quality surf, and some of the most amazing sunrises and sets ever.

One of the few other guys out was Tony, and he was getting plenty of beautiful, clean waves.

This was January 29th, 2014. We were in the midst of two solid weeks of surf.
Remember to come back to this page in July, when surf is just a distant memory….

Breakfast!

So if you can muster it, dawn patrol can be quite rewarding.
Although it’s not always like this. Lots of days you will make the effort and get skunked.

You’re probably better off sleeping in…..
We’ll show you what you missed.
