Thanksgiving Day is all about family and loved ones. And appreciating our blessings.
Oh yeah, and surf. There’s always surf Thanksgiving.
Usually always.
But this year, there was.
Just to make sure there was surf on Thanksgiving, we decided to spend it the other side of Conception.
The forecast was pretty good, and the conditions were right.
Crisp mornings with a stiff offshore breeze, and the water wasn’t freezing yet.
Good size but not scary big. Just right.
All in all, good reason to be joyous and give thanks!
OK…settle down a little…
There were a few barrels to be had here and there…
….usually without an exit.
Unless you took the stairs.
Turns out quite a few folks like to surf up north as well!
Who knew.
But it seemed less agro, fewer drop ins and more courtesy.
Further from L.A. I guess.
This fella took a moment to reflect on all he was thankful for.
Or he was tired, not sure…
We threw the turkey in the oven and went back down to watch the show.
This guy was thankful he wasn’t a turkey….
This Thanksgiving Day was different, in that the wind stayed offshore into the eve.
Fast, backlit barrels rolled through until dusk.
Almost always ending with a closeout.
Or some kind of a fanciful exit.
Fun show to watch.
Before you knew it, it was turkey time!
Hope you and yours had a great Thanksgiving.
