December First
Early December, 2012 brought rain to Goleta.
Much needed rain, that also brought mud, unstable cliffs and slippery trails down to the water.
Good, clean, nutrient rich Goleta clay.
What better place to rinse that mud off, than in some fun waves.
And a series of storms brought a continuous flow of surf.
Winter storms aren’t just good for surf, but also for beauty.
Deck the halls off the bows of Holly.
But let’s try to focus on the surf.
It was pumping…
There were a lot of guys out and a lot of guys that probably shouldn’t have been out.
But a few had it wired.
Like this gentleman, on a longboard, nonetheless.
Deep drop with a lot of nose in front of you…
There were some good sized sets on December 1st.
And most guys weren’t afraid to attempt the fast, steep drops.
We had arranged to meet Ian Jenkins there, and even with all the heads in the water, he wasn’t too hard to find.
In fact he kind of stood out like a sore thumb.
A shredding sore thumb…
We’re not sure if Jenkins is sponsored by J7, but if he’s not, he should be….
Hook ’em up guys!
So it was a pretty heavy day. Good size and speed with lots of close outs.
But like we said, guys were going for it. And that’s always fun to watch.
But charging hard can be costly…
Bummer dude.
This guy caught a lot of nice ones.
But we didn’t catch his name.
If you spot yourself let us know…
And Ian just keeps ripping.
So hopefully all the hypesters are right and this is a pumping winter.
But in the meantime, enjoy the ride.
