Sol y Olas
Goleta got a gift in February 2012.
A perfect combination of sun and waves. Summer in winter.
A not so subtle reminder of why we love where we live.
For a solid week, we enjoyed perfect, glassy, conditions and warm weather.
When you see this, you know there’s surf.
This morning we got a call from this guy, saying he thought the surf might be good.
We agreed to meet him there.
We arrived to find a sight you don’t see everyday….
one guy out at Sands.
That would be the same guy that called us; Ian Jenkins.
Ian seemed to be quite happy dropping into big glassy close outs.
Juicy barrels that rarely had an exit.
Eventually, we wandered around the corner to see what the other side looked like.
It wasn’t too shabby there either.
Look at the nose on this guys board.
Drop in on him, you will be skewered.
That’s a pretty good sized wave there….
The crowd was a bit thicker on this side of the point.
Not a factor for Jenkins, however.
Slicing through green glass on a hot pink board.
Looks like Spring!
Nice sticker on this bike; who would this belong to….
Aha, no surprise here!
Randall Stoker, right where he belongs..and yeah, that’s his bike.
Yes, we love to put girls surfing on our site!
We just don’t see it that often.
Glass.
Later that same day, the waves kept pumping.
Underground surfer, Wes Hyatt, in one of the prettiest waves we’ve seen in a while.
And don’t forget this little rascal.
Vinny Leonelli.
Vinny was in a little over his head, but didn’t seem to mind at all..
One more beauty of a wave for Wes going backside.
And as the sun dropped into the ocean, we were thankful.
