Pearl Harbor Day
December 7th, 2015. Pearl Harbor Day.
Appropriately enough, bombs were dropping along the California coast.
OK, not real bombs. Not F-bombs. But big waves….
The surf had been building all week, and this morning was the biggest yet.
The few guys that got on it early were stoked.
Goleta boy and Campus regular Sam Harden was among the first,
and he was getting plenty of beauties.
Occasionally choosing to take the high line to try and beat the tricky section.
Other guys tried to just beat the section with speed…
And still others got down on all fours and begged the tricky section to have a little mercy….
The smiles on some of these guys faces were visible from the beach.
Glassy, offshore and just a few guys. People travel around the globe searching for this.
Vinny Leonelli was getting some nice ones.
As was Ian Jenkins.
And Maverick Carey lost his hair tie in all the excitement.
Lots of fun waves to be had.
Meanwhile, up at the next point….
Plenty of waves with just a few guys out.
Back at Campus, there were still more lobster traps in the water than people.
In fact, one trap got washed in and a couple folks scored some big bugs…
So, once again, Pearl Harbor Day was a day to be remembered.
This time in a good way…
Viva Goleta.
